There are certain things that all ways stand out to me at each wedding. Andy and Brendan's wedding at the Sofitel in Chicago was exceptional in many ways, but I think I will always remember their authenticity and total lack of pretension in everything they did. Their wedding was just "SO them" - a wonderful reflection of the kind of people they are: sincere, generous, and, of course, with impeccable taste. No posed pictures, no cake cutting - nothing that wasn't them. These are some of our favorite photographs from their wedding:
I think its pictures like this that remind me that you really don't need posed family pictures at a wedding. I guarantee that the best wedding photographers in the world can't elicit the same smile that Andy had as she saw Brendan at the end of the aisle.
During our e-session Brendan warned me he would be wearing some of the coolest shoes I'd be likely to ever see on a groom. I have to agree, but he didn't tell me he would also have some of the coolest socks!
Yes, they actually were as good as they looked!
Now the mother/son dance was original for several reasons. Not the least of which was choosing Nazareth's song "Hair of the Dog," nor their awesome air guitar choreography. It was AWESOME! I later learned that when Brendan was a kid, every day when his Mom came home she would turn up the music and play air guitar with her kids. This may also explain why Brendan has mastered Guitar Hero (see their e-session for more on this).
Thansk for having Nancy and I document your wedding!
-Dave
