Alex + Adam | E-Session

We had a great time getting to know Alex and Adam the other day, and they walked all over Museum Campus with us despite the cold weather.  They were so much fun; I am very much looking forward to their wedding in August at the Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park.  Thanks for braving the cold Adam and Alex; it was well worth it!

Alex is a bridesmaid in another one of our bride's weddings (see our E-session post of Megan here), and Megan will be a bridesmaid in Alex's! I love it when that happens :)

Sarah + Chris' wedding | Flower Stems | Birmingham, Alabama

Sarah and Chris are longtime friends and we were excited to be able to shoot their wedding (Chris' filmmaking has been featured on our blog before). They wanted to start their day out with a walk with their bridal party through a forest preserve to the spot where Chris proposed to Sarah.  The woods were beautiful and it was so fun to photograph at a location completely opposite of the big city we live in.

Sarah and Chris were married in Birmingham, Alabama at the Flower Stems loft, a venue much like A New Leaf in Chicago.  The floral shop Flower Stems had a beautiful loft where they held their reception; there was some funky hip furniture that made for some great photos.  It was fun to be able to celebrate and shoot with old friends; thanks Chris and Sarah!

Away for the Holidays...

Jamie and Hap | E-Session | Chicago

Jamie and Hap are getting married next October at the Standard Club in Chicago; although they live in New York, we were able to meet up with them one chilly afternoon in Chicago.  This was our first time meeting them, and it was so fun getting to know them. They have a contagious energy, excitement, and chemistry that is so fun to capture. Jamie is a theater producer, and has some of the most creative ideas for her wedding that I have heard; we're very much looking forward to working with them next October!

Patricia + Mike | E-Session | Chicago

Patricia and Mike are getting married at the brand new Chicago Trump Tower.
I had the chance to meet Mike and their cute pug Napoleon this past week.  Mike and Patricia were so fun to hang out with, and I really enjoyed capturing the way they flirted and teased each other on an incredibly warm fall day. 

Thanks for a great time; we're looking forward to July!

DWP wins Wedding Photojournalist Award

We're excited to announce that one of our images won in the latest round of contests of  the WPJA (Wedding Photographers Photojournalist Association).  The WPJA holds contests 4 times a year with various categories, but this year they held a special fifth contest for images from "Trash the Dress" sessions. We also ranked 10th place over all among photographers from around the world.

We captured this photograph at the very end of our TTD session with Linda and John in Charleston, South Carolina.  As we were walking off the beach we noticed this little crab trying to hitch a ride on her dress.

For us the term "trash the dress" is a bit of an unfortunate misnomer. We harbor no ill-will towards wedding dresses, and frankly the thought of deliberately "trashing" one doesn't hold much appeal to us. We treat these sessions as an opportunity to create a set of fashion-inspired images which would otherwise not be possible because the dress may get a little dirty or wet. In almost all of the of the "Trash the Dress" sessions we've done, the dresses were dry-cleaned, without a problem (not-wistanding some strange looks and raised eye-brows from the dry cleaners).

Ran + Tjomme | E-Session | Chicago

Ran and Tjomme are getting married in June at the Northwestern Chapel with a reception following at the Four Seasons in Chicago.  They have fantastic energy as couple, and we really enjoyed hearing how they met and fell in love. We went to a few different locations ranging from the West Loop to a "secret" prairie preserve by the lake. In typical Chicago fashion, it was very windy and the waves were threatening to soak us all, but it made for some great shots.
