Katy + Mike | e-session | Indiana

Katy and Mike are getting married at the Harold Washington Library this winter. For their engagement session they took me out to their summer home in Indiana where Mike spent many of his summers growing up. Though we were initially thwarted by heavy rains, the storms quickly passed and we were left with the amazing light you see captured below.  Mike and Katy have a warm energy about them and are very fun to be around. We're very excited to be working with them again in November!

Jessica + Michael | Day After Session | Chicago

You might remember seeing Michael and Jessica's engagement session, or their intimate wedding at May Street Market. We had the pleasure of photographing their "day after" session this past week; Dave and I LOVE doing these sessions and getting to photograph them a third time was a treat. Jessica and Michael have a beautifully intense chemistry that made us feel like we were shooting stills for a Wong Kar-wai film (who not coincidently happens to be one of our favorite directors). 

These "day after" sessions are wonderful because they provide the opportunity to create a set of portraits that would not be possible without taking several hours out of their wedding day. Furthermore, not being on a wedding timetable allowed us first of all to work during the most beautiful time of day, and also to focus on creating the best possible images without having to worry about the clock or other wedding-day stresses.

Shana + Josh | E-Session | Chicago

Shana and Josh are getting married at the end of this month, in the recently completed Spertus Museum on Michigan Av. Both Shana and Josh are creatives, and are really interested in the contrast in textures that is ever present in Chicago. We had a lot of fun incorporating that concept into their session. They both claimed to be nervous as we begun the session, but they enjoy each other so visibly that we saw no traces of it. Without further ado, here are a few of our favorites from their session.

Carlos has taught me so much over the past few years, so I'm thrilled that he's agreed to share his experience with a few others.Photographers with as much knowledge and experience as Carlos very rarely offer workshops, and never at a price like this. In a time when expensive, overhyped workshops by under-experienced photographers is the norm, I feel proud to be hosting this here in Chicago.

Greg + Joan | The Modern Wing | Wedding Slideshow

Here is a preview of our photographs of Greg and Joan's beautiful wedding at the Modern Wing of the Chicago Art Institute (you may recall seeing images from their wedding in this blog post). Note the beautiful dress by Alice Padrul, and the stunning views from the terrace of the Modern Wing as the light changes.  It was quite the spectacular wedding, and we were honored to be a part of it.  (You can view this slideshow in full screen for the most optimal viewing expereince by clicking on the square tv-like icon on the bottom right).
