Carolyn and Sara are getting married at the beautiful Ivy Room in early May. After a long winter, we were finally able to get outside to shoot their e-session. It was chilly, but at least the sun was out! We loved working with these two; they are so clearly in love, and were obviously so happy to just be able to spend some time together.
Here are a few of our favorites from the afternoon.
Dave and I very excited to be a part of the first wedding wish granting organization in the United States, Wish Upon a Wedding. Wish Upon a Wedding was founded in January of 2010, and is dedicated to producing weddings and civil ceremonies for individuals facing terminal illness. The Chicago chapter just launched and in celebration of it's launch many Chicago wedding vendors came together at an event to show their support. Ali Phillips, the president of the Chicago chapter, announced the first couple in Chicago to have their wedding wish granted. Beth and Nick will be married on April 18, 2010.
This film by I Do Films tells their story beautifully.
If you are a wedding vendor and are interested in becoming a wish granter, you can find more info on their website about how to do so. If you know a couple in which one or both are terminally ill, and wish to be married, tell them about Wish Upon a Wedding!
Once again, we are a bit behind in our blogging. This is a time of year when we take advantage of fewer weddings happening and travel to pursue work on personal projects and better ourselves as photographers and artists. In between two trips, we had the honor of working with Donna Albertson and some of Chicago's best wedding vendors at a Valentine's Day party at the Ivy Room at Tree Studios. There was incredible food from the Entertaining Company, Blue Plate, Berghoff, and Limelight. The decor was all designed by the amazing Erin McDonald at Heffernan Morgan, and the lighting was all by Frost. Larry King Orchestra kept everyone dancing; they are a ridiculously talented band, and so fun! We were honored to be a part of such a talented team.
Here are a few of our favorites from that evening.

We're proud to announce that this image from Shana and Josh's wedding at the Spertus Institute won 1st place in the Emotional Impact category of ISPWP's quarterly worldwide wedding photography contest. Incidentally, this is the second 1st place win for images from their wedding in ISPWP's contest.
Were also honored to announce that Dave will be on the panel of judges for next quarter's contest. Naturally, we won't be submitting any images to that one, but we are looking forward to helping select what constitutes the best in wedding photography worldwide.
Be sure to check out the rest of the International Society for Wedding Photography's winners for some of the best wedding photographs made in the past year.
Mark and Ligia are getting married in May; they had dreamed of being photographed in the snow for their engagement session. We waited, and when a big snow storm hit, we went out to shoot. The lakefront looked so different covered in snow, and all three of us had fun being the first to make footprints in fresh snow! I loved shooting in such a different environment, and capturing a unique time not only in Mark and Ligia's lives, but also that quiet moment when everything stands still because of the snow. Here are a few of my favorite images from that day:
Our photographs from Ashlee and Mike's wedding at the Elysian hotel in Chicago were featured in the latest issue of Today's Chicago Woman magazine. You can view the article online here on pages 90-91.
