Nearly every week, a client, or fellow photographer, or secret admirer of them, asks me if we've published Jon and Joey's wedding on our blog. Some of you may recognize them from the editorial engagement session which we did this past fall in LA. We knew after shooting their e-session that their wedding was going to be one long and incredible party. Among their friends they have a reputation for throwing legendary parties. This would be no exception, and I can't begin to go into the thought and care they put into making sure that this was an amazing experience first and foremost for their friends and family, and then for themselves.
Inviting everyone down to Miami, they began with an intimate rehearsal dinner for their families in the library at the Soho Beach House: a brilliantly decorated members club on South Beach. Having concluded dinner they invited everyone to a lively party dance party on the hotel's rooftop. The following day they had their ceremony at Soho Beach House. After which they bussed everyone to a surprise location: the Villa by Barton G for the reception. For the third day they organized an all-day beach party with face painting, volleyball, and snow cones. Today we're featuring images from their wedding ceremony at Soho House and reception at the Villa by Barton G (formerly the Versace Mansion).
Much could be said about all sorts of fantastic details and happenings at their wedding. But what was most striking was deep love they have for each other. Their vows left not only them in tears, but a good portion of their guests. I don't know that I've ever seen that many guests crying at a ceremony. Having been there, having witnessed their vows, having seen them sober, and not so sober, and having watched their interactions in detail through my lens from one morning far into the next morning...I must believe that if those who are so adamantly opposed to the love and marriage between two men, between these two men, that if they could have seen what I saw, then gay marriage would be legally and culturally sanctioned nationwide.
