Jessica + Michael | Day After Session | Chicago

You might remember seeing Michael and Jessica's engagement session, or their intimate wedding at May Street Market. We had the pleasure of photographing their "day after" session this past week; Dave and I LOVE doing these sessions and getting to photograph them a third time was a treat. Jessica and Michael have a beautifully intense chemistry that made us feel like we were shooting stills for a Wong Kar-wai film (who not coincidently happens to be one of our favorite directors). 

These "day after" sessions are wonderful because they provide the opportunity to create a set of portraits that would not be possible without taking several hours out of their wedding day. Furthermore, not being on a wedding timetable allowed us first of all to work during the most beautiful time of day, and also to focus on creating the best possible images without having to worry about the clock or other wedding-day stresses.

Ran + Tjomme | Fashion Bridal Session | Chicago

Dave and I have been eagerly awaiting the day we can share these images.  Ran and Tjomme were married on June 6 (this past weekend!) at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. We'll be blogging photographs from their wedding soon, but today we wanted to share the images from their fashion bridal session we shot in May, a month before their wedding.  We shot all over Chicago and had an incredible time not only shooting but hanging out with them.  We were so excited when we got home and started going through the images; Ran and Tjomme look amazing, and the new locations we had scouted worked really well!

Jennifer | Bridal Fashion in Chicago | Part 2

Dave and I have been wanting to shoot late at night for quite some time. The night is so romantic, and we're fascinated by how the Loop transforms from a bustling business center to an empty section of the city.  We were excited that Jennifer was up for it; here are a few of our favorites from the night:

Jennifer | Bridal Fashion in Chicago | Part 1

Last week we had the opportunity to work with Jennifer and Jake whose wedding we shot this past October. Jennifer and Jake were married in St. Paul this past October, and we were excited for the chance to work with them again.  We did a bridal fashion shoot for Jennifer and the next day we worked with Jake to shoot his new album cover. We'll be posting some previews from his shoot soon.  Here are a few of our favorites from the first part of the day of Jennifer's fashion bridal session.  We went out late at night and shot in the Loop for the second part of the bridal fashion session; we'll be posting part 2 soon!

I love this shot of Dave at work. This is him as he's taking the above shot of Jennifer in front of the church facade.

The shots below are inspired by a photoshoot that was in BON, a Swedish fashion magazine. We love how these came out!

Bridal Fashion shoot for Alice Padrul | Tuscany and Umbria, Italy

Dave and I just returned from an exciting four-day shoot in Italy. We had the opportunity to work with Alice Padrul, a Chicago based couture gown designer also located in the West Loop. Alice Padrul's designs are carried by fine boutiques across the US, and her dresses are truly works of art that were a pleasure to photograph. We had a great team in Italy, and an incredible model that worked hard with us to produce these photos. We spent the first day scouting and securing the locations we wanted and then an intense 3 days of shooting in cathedrals, monasteries, villas, and medieval hillside towns to all over Tuscany and Umbria to create this set of photographs. Thanks to Alice, to Chris from Second Look Films for amazing video, and to Kate for being an awesome model!
