DWP wins 1st place in Emotional Impact category at ISPWP contest

 We're proud to announce that this image from Shana and Josh's wedding at the Spertus Institute won 1st place in the Emotional Impact category of ISPWP's quarterly worldwide wedding photography contest. Incidentally, this is the second 1st place win for images from their wedding in ISPWP's contest. 

 We also placed three different images from Chad and Michelle's dramatic proposal, one from Camille and Wilson's destination engagement session in Rome, one of Jessica and Michael's day after session, one from Katy and Mike's wedding at the Harold Washington Library, and lastly, one of from Suzie and Matt's wedding. The winning images are below in the order listed. 

 



      

Were also honored to announce that Dave will be on the panel of judges for next quarter's contest. Naturally, we won't be submitting any images to that one, but we are looking forward to helping select what constitutes the best in wedding photography worldwide.

Elysian wedding photos featured in TCW

Our photographs from Ashlee and Mike's wedding at the Elysian hotel in Chicago were featured in the latest issue of Today's Chicago Woman magazine. You can view the article online here on pages 90-91. 

 

Proposal photos featured on The Bride's Cafe

Just last week we posted Matt + Sarah's proposal on our blog.  Janie, from the fabulous blog the Bride's Cafe, emailed right away and asked if she could feature them on her blog. We of course said yes, and you can see their feature on the Bride's Cafe today!  Matt shared his story, and there are more images in this feature than our blog post, so be sure to check it out.  I just love hearing Matt's story, and it's not usual you get to hear the groom's side of things on a wedding blog.

DWP's images win awards in ISPWP

We wanted to to share our most recent contest wins with you all. Three of our photographs placed in the most recent International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) contest. This group is comprised of carefully screened photographers from all over the world, and the competition is always fierce. We came in 19th over all out of a few hundred participants!  Below are our winning photos.

This photo from Shana and Josh's wedding at the Spertus took 1st place in the Bride and Groom portrait category which is traditionally the most competitive category of the contest! Check out the rest of the winners for some of the best wedding photographs made this fall. 

DWP places 5 photos in the ISPWP's Summer Contest.

We're honored that 5 of our images placed in the latest ISPWP (International Society of Wedding Photographers) Summer Contest. A big congratulations and thank you to all our couples who won.

This photograph that we shot right before Greg and Joan's wedding ceremony at the brand new Modern Wing placed in the "Motion" category. There's was the second wedding ever held there.

I recently sat down (virtually) for a conversation with Ron Dawson, a gifted film-maker and producer, on the state of, and future of the wedding photography industry. WPJA Contest Win

Shortly after we posted Ran and Tjomme's slideshow we learned that one of their images won in the the Wedding Photojournalist Association international contest in the Creative Portrait category.  Dave and I are always seeking different perspectives on commonly photographed areas, and I love how this image captures the bride and groom in a unique way on the much photographed Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

This quarter's contest results were particularly unique for us because not only did one of our images place, but an image of US from our April wedding placed as well! It was quite a funny experience to look through the results and see an image of us. Congrats to Connie Miller of Studio Atticus in Boston who grabbed this shot as we exited the church. 

DWP invited to Cake and Pictures

We were extremely honored to be one of the first photographers invited to join the new Cake and Pictures directory. Following their success in launching a directory of the country's leading commercial photographers they have launched an invitation-only website to "connect discerning brides with an exclusive directory of the very best wedding photographers..." We are very impressed with the consistent talent exhibited in their selection, and pleased to be in such good company.

Janie Medley runs one of the best bridal blogs out there - The Bride's Cafe. We have been impressed by how consistently she has featured innovative and original wedding photography. We were so honored when she requested permission to feature Sam and Stefanie's wedding at A New Leaf.
