Five of Dave's art pieces will be featured in a group show at the Chicago Artists Coalition gallery. The opening reception will be January 20, from 6-9pm at 217 N Carpenter, Chicago IL. We'll be there and would love to have you all stop by.

We've been too busy to blog about this when they came out, but the most reent issue of CS Brides features THREE of our weddings from 2011. We are so excited to see all three of these weddings in print. Additoinally, one of our weddings is also in the current issue Grace Ormonde, and will be featured in more detail on their blog in the next week.

One of our images from this past summer recently won a FEARLESS award. The Fearless Photographers Contest is a collection of peer-reviewed images that highlights some of the boldest wedding photography photos recently created. This is an image from Amanda and Colin's wedding ceremony at 4th Presbyterian Church; Dave captured this image just before Amanda walked down the aisle.
It's always exciting when one of the weddings we worked on gets published. Jessica and Matt's wedding at the Ivy Room this past October is featured in a beautiful 2 page spread in the latest CS Brides issue. There is a lot of great insight into the wedding and how all the details came together in the article. Pick up the latest issue or read it online here (page 164).
We've been eager to share this news with you since we first heard back in February that two of our images had placed in the PDN Top Knots Contest. For those of you outside the photo world, Photo District News (aka PDN) is the top publication in the photo industry. They hold a yearly photo contest which is probably the most widely entered and seen contest in the wedding photography world. Having never entered before this year, we were very excited that we placed two images among the winners!

We're proud to announce that an image from Michelle and Jacob's wedding won second place in the Pure art category of ISPWP's worldwide quarterly contest.
A tableau wedding party portrait from Terese and Ed's wedding at the Chicago Illuminating Company, a wedding dress detail from Caitlin and Drew's wedding, a wedding dress photo from Daniella and Noah's wedding, and Missy and Jamie's e-session all placed in this quarter's contest as well.

I would normally be very proud to have one of our weddings featured on Style Me Pretty (arguably the most influential wedding blog) but I was ecstatic when I saw that they opened with ALL black and white photos for Part 1 of their feature on Terese + Ed's wedding at the Chicago Illuminating Company. This was a significant departure not only from their usual colorful posts, but also a rare and admirable move in an industry dominated by blogs full of mostly wedding details (which while beautiful, are hardly the most important thing in a wedding). Anyway, all this to say that Style Me Pretty gets a lot of respect in my book for daring to break the mold and put forth their own vision. Of course, I may be just a little biased because they are our photos, and we really love B+W wedding photography. Check out their post and please voice your approval in their comments section if you support this new direction. Also, don't forget that Terese is still blogging a detailed commentary on all the pictures over at her blog, so stop by and say hi.
I'm honored that one of my images took first place in the Summer ISPWP contest. This image was made during Mark and Ligia's engagement session last winter during a blizzard in Chicago.
What distinguishes this contest from other wedding photography contests is the strong international representation. Of the top twenty contestants, only 5 were from the US (we were one of the top 5 in the US). The quality and originality of the images that are submitted is incredible. Congratulations to Sara and Ari, Mark and Ligia, Suzie and Matt, Ashlee and Mike, and Alex and Adam! Images from each of their weddings placed in the contest.

The above image was taken during Alex and Adam's wedding in Lake Forest; Alex's lace wedding dress is on the right, and her mother's wedding dress from a few decades previous is hanging next to it.
This is one of Dave's recent images from Sara and Ari's wedding at the Spertus Museum.
And this last one was shot at the Field Museum during Suzie and Matt's wedding last September.
